Savory Cheese and Sausage Muffins

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Coat muffin pans with olive oil, butter, or preferred baking grease.
  3. Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until crumbly, crispy, and brown. Turn off heat and transfer to a plate or dish.
  4. While sausage is cooking, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder in a bowl.  
  5. Turn skillet to low and melt butter. Let cool for about five minutes. While butter is cooling, whisk together eggs, buttermilk, and syrup. Pour in cooled butter and whisk.
  6. Add dry mixture to wet mixture, whisking as you go. Add sausage, cheese, and rosemary and stir until combined.
  7. Pour into muffin pans and bake for 20-22 minutes, or until lightly browned and an inserted knife emerges clean.
