Love pulled pork? Want a simple, low-prep dinner? These country-style ribs take just five minutes of prep and provide plenty of shredded pork for tacos, rice bowls, or a barbecue dish. They're especially great in the summer - just throw in the slow cooker and forget about them for the rest of the day.

- Servings: 4
Directions
Ingredients
- 2 packs country-style ribs
- 2 tsp. sea salt
- 1 tsp. ground mustard
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1 cup bbq sauce (see notes) or broth
Directions
- Combine the dry ingredients (sea salt through cayenne pepper) in a small bowl and rub all over the ribs, coating well.
- If using Instant Pot or slow cooker: Place the ribs in the pot, along with 1 cup broth or homemade bbq sauce. Cook for 45 minutes on high pressure for the Instant Pot, and for 8-10 hours on low in the slow cooker.
- If using the oven: Place the ribs in a Dutch oven or similar oven-proof pan with a lid, and with just enough broth or homemade bbq sauce to coat the bottom of the pot. Cook low and slow (325 F for 2.5 hours). Cook until meat is tender and shreds easily.
- To eat: shred and add more barbecue sauce, or add additional salt, pepper, and your favorite seasonings if you're pairing them with tacos or in a rice bowl instead.
Notes
Making a homemade bbq sauce is easy! Combine:
- 1 1/2 cups of ketchup
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce or balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey
- 2 tbsp. ground mustard or yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp. paprika
- 2 tsp. onion powder or garlic powder
- 1 tsp. ground pepper
Stir and taste, adding more or less as necessary. Want to make it more Eastern-style (vinegar-based)? Cut the ketchup in half.
