Maybe you've heard that lard is making a comeback -- and for good reason. It's considered one of the healthiest and most versatile fats that you can use in your kitchen.

Lard is rich in many vitamins and minerals, especially vitamins B and D. In fact, it's one of the best ways to access Vitamin D in our food. It's also higher in omega-3 fatty acids with a better omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acid ratio.

Leaf fat is especially well-suited for baking! You can substitute it 1:1 for butter. It's known for making excellent pie crusts, but we also love incorporating it in cookies and brownies. 

Tip: This lard is shelf-stable. You can leave it out on the counter or store it in the fridge. It lasts for well over a year (although it goes pretty quickly in our household!) Just don't freeze it!
